Outhouse welcomes new CEO Oisín O'Reilly

The Chairperson of Outhouse, Séamus McManus (he/him), is pleased to announce that the Board has appointed Oisín O’Reilly (he/him) as the new CEO of Outhouse LGBT+ Community Resource Centre.

Previously the Deputy CEO, Head of Operations, Fundraising, and Corporate Secretary to Belong To LGBT+ youth Ireland, Oisín was integral to the organisation’s growth and success during his tenure there. He brings with him to Outhouse over 15 years of experience in social justice campaigns, fundraising, and nonprofit leadership, management, and governance.

Oisín took over the role of CEO in April this year after Martha Whyte (she/her) stepped down from the position after over 15 years of dedication and service.

Commenting on the appointment, Chairperson McManus stated:

“I am delighted the Board has been able to appoint a person of Oisín O’Reilly’s calibre as CEO of Outhouse. Oisín has demonstrated his broad and detailed knowledge of the needs of the LGBT+ community, service delivery, advocacy, fundraising and has the experience of leading and growing NGOs. Previously he has served as Executive Chairperson of the Dublin LGBTQ Pride Festival and served the community internationally as a Board member at the International LGBTQ Youth and Student Organisation (IGLYO) where he supported LGBT+ movements in 52 countries across the wider European region. Moreover, Oisín played important roles in some of the most pivotal developments in LGBT+ issues over the last decade and a half, not least his contributions to civil marriage equality through the BeLonGToYES campaign, to securing the National LGBTI+ Youth Strategy from the government, and in growing Belong To to become a leading Irish LGBT+ organisation. Oisín’s understanding extends beyond the LGBT+ sphere, having served on the Board of the National Youth Council, where he championed youth unemployment, and in his ongoing work on the Board of the Irish Refugee Council for those seeking international protection. He will bring with him this wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of CEO of Outhouse.”

Commenting on his appointment, Oisín added:

“I am delighted to take up the role of CEO of Outhouse, an organisation that I’ve long admired and respected for its community approach to advancing the safety and wellbeing of LGBT+ people over its 25 year history. I’m particularly excited to lead on the development of a new strategic plan, building on Outhouse’s many successes and identifying key priorities for the next five years at a time of opportunity for real and meaningful change.

I would like to pay tribute to my predecessor Martha Whyte who has shaped the organisation into the well-regarded organisation it is today. I’m looking forward to working with the passionate team and expert Trustees to respond to the evolving needs of our community.”
